Alliance Française Christchurch is not just a language school... it is Christchurch’s only French cultural centre! Alliance Française Christchurch contributes to the vibrant cultural life of the city by organising many community and cultural events such as concerts, exhibitions, shows, movie screenings, conferences, festivals, social events and our traditional French events: Fête de la Musique, Bastille Day and Beaujolais nouveau. The annual French Film Festival – the largest French cultural event in New Zealand – showcases the best of French contemporary cinema in 12 cities nationwide from March to April. It is promoted by the Alliance Française network and takes place each year in multiple cinemas accross town. All these events appeal to a broad public, and to anyone who likes French, French-speaking cultures or wants to learn more about them.  To facilitate a wide participation, English is spoken at all events. These events also attract the large French-speaking community of the region and allow our students to immerse themselves in the French language and French-speaking cultures and therefore practise their Frenchs skills.
